Ten Words That Sound Like Celebrity Baby Names

A universe without absurd celebrity baby names would be like a universe without circus peanuts. Some people adore them, some people abhor them, but the world would be a little less sweet — yet fully operational — without them. I have compiled a list of words that sound like celebrity baby names, because that’s just the kind of lady I am. Note that all of these were chosen based on sound and spelling, not meaning. Update: As of June 2013, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West named their baby North West. Obviously, they’ve taken the “words that sound like celebrity baby names” thing to heart. Rayon (Boy. It will go on to widespread use among commoners. After a few years, a celeb will use it on a girl to be “edgy.” The Internet will be divided about that.) [Ed. note: A not-so-secret secret here at C+S is that we write/queue our posts up to a month in advance. A few weeks after I wrote this, this post appeared: a (non-celeb) Rayon…

Fright Night on October 31.

Pumpkins, bats, witches, cats… how are you celebrating Halloween this year? | Photo by Aventure Parc. In four days’ time, you will have the perfect reason to break out the candy bars, restock the chocolates and sweets and all manners of tasty treats in your kitchen. Not because it’s football season (although the Barclay’s Premier League 2015-2016 has already began), but because in four days’ time, on October 31st, it will be Halloween. Children will come knockin’ on your front doors, trickin’ and treatin’. Say, will children end up with diabetes and toothaches as they grow older, after having devoured all the candies they received on Halloween? I used to ask myself how did Halloween come into existence. I thought it was a publicity stunt by Hollywood or Disneyland. Making up stories to scare the kids into behaving themselves, that sort of thing. Parents are pretty good at doing that. Especially when they want you to eat your greens or brush your teeth before bedtime or adhere to a…

Staring At Menus

As soon as we fold up and put away a clean batch of clothes, there’s another batch that needs to be washed. The piles are meshing together. It’s only a matter of time until I put on a dirty pair of boxers by mistake. Dishes. Trash. Laundry. All day, everyday. I love Del Taco. Apparently, this fast food chain only resides in certain states. It’s the better version of Taco Bell. As much as I love this place, I do encounter a problem with it from time to time. I see the menu and there’s so many damn options. I imagine a hot chick has a similar problem: she has so many suitors that she ends up staying single. I don’t know what to order sometimes, and it bugs the shit out of me. There is clearly a problem with abundance. Why does the world hate America so much? Because…

If you missed my first installmentof Breaking Dad, my intention is to share with you little things I want to teach my kids someday that still apply to all of us. Over these past few weeks, I’ve been reminded of something I took for granted: make time for play. Besides working full time, changing diapers, running a blog, running a podcast, cooking dinner, launching an eCourse, and sleep, there isn’t much time left in the day for playing. I know we can all relate in some way, even if you don’t have kids. Life happens, responsibilities pile up, so making time for fun is pushed to the end of our to-do list. Now I’m all for productivity, but sometimes taking time to play (with our spouse, friends, pets or children) leads to more productivity later. Here are just a few proven benefits of play: Read more…
