It’s Gucci

lipstickzngunz

I’ll be honest with you guys, I put Gucci in a category. I just knew this book was gonna be hood as the West End Mall. I was thinking I’d need a translator to cypher through the slang. Pre judgment at it finest. I’m only human.

I was sorta surprised when I notice Gucci himself was the author; after the first few chapters I quickly learned why. Well duh Lipstickzngunz its La Flare is a hustler. Thats the long and short of it. Period. Neil Martinez-Belkin former music editor at XXL magazine lent his expert touch as well. I mean since he’s written a ton about hip-hop why wouldn’t he.

The rollercoaster ride of Mr. Burrrrrr starts out with humble well sorta humble beginnings deep in Alabama before we end up at the Texaco or Sun Valley, and long before Gucci becomes Atlanta Trap God. We meet his family and…

5 Things About Instagram Themes!

KARA DAVIES

Hello friends, welcome back!

Now! You’ll either get on board with this or you won’t. Me? On board!

With themes, however, whilst it’s so inspiring and relaxing to see a feed to perfectly aligned with the stars. It doesn’t just happen on its own. So I’ve put together a list of 5 things about Instagram themes that you may want to consider before delving into the ‘perfect feed‘ world!

1. Be prepared to sacrifice!

A touch dramatic I know but what’s new. Now many themes follow the idea of matching colours, maybe you incorporate flowers in each picture somewhere. So yes, whilst it’s pretty, it means that any photos that don’t match your theme, you can’t post – unless you want to sacrifice all your hard work for one photo! So instead you’ll be sacrificing photos and memories that you perhaps deeply treasure and can’t share due to…

A Visit To The Theatre To See ‘Hamilton’

Charlotte Hoather

DSC_6755

On Thursday I had the opportunity of going to see ‘Hamilton’ at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London. I went with my brother and his friends to the Matinee viewing at 14:30. It was exciting as I was a jump-in for the ticket, so I didn’t know much about the show other than it had been well received in the media.

This musical theatre show is about one of the founding fathers of the United States, Alexander Hamilton, whose drive and ambition lead him to become an American war hero and George Washington’s right-hand man. It was quite an empowering story to watch because it demonstrated what successes can be achieved if you keep working hard and persevere. However, the show also demonstrates the personal costs that this lifestyle can incur. The Hip-Hop musical highlights explain that he was born out of wedlock, then orphaned as a child, and despite…

Huka Falls

for the love of nike

Huka Falls are a set of torrential waterfalls on the North Island of New Zealand. In the photos below, you get the fell for the water’s pace. What’s even crazier is that you can ride a jetboat down this thing. What’s a jetboat? Oh just a teeny tiny little speed boat that can navigate on only 4 inches of water. In true New Zealand spirit, Kiwis drive these little devils, loaded with screaming tourists, around like there isn’t a rock or a waterfall in sight. Only in New Zealand. It’s pretty amazing and terrifying. The American in me kept wonder, “wait–when are we going to sign a liability waiver?”

Date Idea That Requires Little to No Money

sophie harris

Hiya!! I’m back with another valentines day related post and this time I want to give you guys some ideas for dates that don’t require too much money. I’m not going to say zero money because that’s not always plausible and honestly, off of the top of my head, I can’t think of any.

I’m a poor girl and I know a lot of people, especially students, will not have as much money to splash out extreme amounts on date for this somewhat special day. So I know how it feels and this is my list of 8 money free date ideas.

1. Seek out a food market and live off of the free samples. I do this regardless of dates to be honest hahaha! Restaurants are so bloody expensive sometimes so let’s do that.

2. A museum date. Maybe this is boring to some people, but for me…

Tested Tricks on Tackling Writer’s Block

The Musing Quill

Whether writer’s block is real or not – totally depends on what you believe. Here was the article that debated what a writer thinks about writer’s block and it gained much popularity amongst readers back in December last year.

I believe,

that there are such stretches of time when you strive to scribe. Motivation plays a paltry role. It feels as though the pool of imagination inside you has dried out and you are merely scraping the bottom to no fruition. That may or may not be writer’s block or call it by any name you fancy, the fact remains that when the storm comes, we need not give in or seek escape. Tonight, thus, we talk of possible effective ways of tackling writer’s block.

In my journey so far, I have always learnt new things and have gladly shared them with the writing fraternity through my blogs. But as…

The Curse of the “Skinny Fat”

lilrant

I have a confession: I hate my body.

How many of us have this same issue? Midnight pizza/donut/cheesecake cravings, and the inability to shut out the food monsters in our bellies? (I know Paul is one of us for sure.)

Here’s something y’all don’t know about me. I used to be overweight in high school. I was a whopping seventy kilos of just adipose and no muscle and it was um, pathetic. Then I went to college and dropped thirty kilos in less than a year, without diet or exercise – thanks to our mess(y) food which was 90% water – and also gave myself anemia in the process. When I was in my third semester of college, I was mighty proud of my newly acquired slender frame which also oh my goodness, came with a waist! You won’t understand the glory of having a waist after years of being…

My Morning Routine for Smooth Toned and Glowing Skin

THE MILLENNIAL EXCLUSIVE

Large pores, pimples, acne and worse the marks they leave behind. To achieve poreless, smooth and naturally glowy skin I took matters into my own hands and searched around for products that really work for me.

I have combination skin – oily in my T-zone and dry around my chin and mouth. Considering my skin tone (dark) I’m also extremely susceptible to hyperpigmentation and the dreaded dark spots left over from acne. I’m happy to share however, that I finally have  a regimen that works to keep my skin not only breakout free but incredibly smooth.

MY MORNING ROUTINE

Cleansing

I start out with the usual–washing my face. A face brush of some sort is crucial for really getting a deep clean and making sure that your face wash can penetrate deep in your pores and do what it’s meant to. A face brush is great…but the cost? Not so…

Is A Degree A Must In This Time And Age?

MiddleMe

Recently, my husband panicked over the rising cost of university education in Singapore. Partly because he has been reading unsolicited advice by insurance companies, trying to scare him into parting a portion of his salary to invest in some kind of long-term investment plan. Partly because he loves our 1-year-old daughter and want to be able to provide the best education for her.
