My Top 10 BookNerd Problems

Originally posted on Metal and the Geek:
When you are an avid reader, there are some things that regular people will say or do that will just get under your skin. Then there are just somethings that come with the territory of being a booknerd. Here are my top ten booknerd problems. Are you ready for this? I am! 1. When you are reading, and someone asks “What are you reading?”  Take note here, If I am reading a physical copy of a book, do NOT ask me what I am reading, just read the damn cover and then google it. If I am reading on my Kindle, do NOT ask me what I am reading, for the simple reason that it is fucking annoying!! Wait until I put it away and then ask. If you’re not even a reader, don’t ask me just to make small talk. I hate small talk. Just go away honestly. 2. When people say they’ve watched the movie, and don’t need to read the book.  This might be my…

Harry Potter Themed Bar in Toronto

Originally posted on Fandom Addict:
Hi everyone, This is probably the coolest fandom news I’ve posted about so far! A new Harry Potter – themed bar has opened in Toronto, and it looks so amazing! It is absolutely the place to be if you’re a Harry Potter fan. I’m considering taking a road trip up there from New York (where I live) just for this. The bar is called The Lockhart, after our favorite ladies’ man of the Harry Potter world. The make some serious “Potions and Elixirs”, and titled a lot of their drinks after subtle Harry Potter terms, like “Befuddlement Brew” and “The Shacklebolt”. There’s so much more, and you can read about it and see more pictures here. I’m so excited to go here someday! Until next time! Have any more Potter news? Comment below!

Harry Potter World

Yesterday I was lucky enough to get to visit the Harry Potter sets and being such a big Harry Potter fan anyway this just highlighted my upset that the books and films are actually over. A large amount of Harry Potter was filmed in a studios in north London and they have set up an exhibition of props and scenes from the films so you can experience the magic yourself! Having driven quite a while to get to the location in Watford, we were greeted by the huge chess pieces from the first film. The scale of these are insane and they really would dwarf a grown man. We then proceed into the main entrance where we are greeted by the great hall doors, again these are huge and to everyones excitement upon entering through the doors we are stood in the real great hall! This is lined with tables mounted with food from the films. There is fire places on each wall all engraved with the Hogwarts cress…

Finding Unauthorized Faith in Harry Potter by Nicole L. Rivera

Purchased: Received ARC from Author for honest review My Rating: 2 of 5 Stars What’s it all about: So… I don’t really know how to describe this book. It is about God and Harry Potter. That is about as much as I can say. This is the press release that the author put out in regards to her book. It gives a little more detail that maybe I can’t describe as well. “Nicole L Rivera, Creative Team Manager for the Harry Potter fansite, MuggleNet, marries faith with fandom in Finding Unauthorized Faith in Harry Potter. A Christ-follower for ten years and Potter-fan for fourteen years, Nicole set out to write a thesis exploring the parallels between the Bible and the Harry Potter series for her Master of Arts in creative writing. She didn’t expect the four-hundred-plus page essay to become a series of ebooks and now a book in a variety of formats. Nicole has been fascinated with Harry Potter since the summer before her Junior year in High School. By…

The Sorting Hat: Random Stuff, By Hogwarts House

Keep your eye out for owls! This week is big in the Harry Potter world: JK Rowling, Harry, and, of course, Neville Longbottom all celebrate their birthdays at the end of July. We cannot reflect on the Potterverse without asking that eternal question: which house are you in? We’ll be forthright. In Pottermore, both of us were given the choice between Gryffindor and one other house — Ravenclaw for me and Hufflepuff for Traci.  We aren’t house-ist …  but we also acknowledge that each has its flaws. Gryffindors are self-important, Ravenclaws are nerds, Slytherins are cold, and Hufflepuffs are human puffalumps. We love them all, and believe that anything – anything – can be sorted into a house. Fast Food Restaurants Taco Bell: Slytherin McDonald’s: Gryffindor Arby’s: Ravenclaw Wendy’s: Hufflepuff Reasoning: Nothing says “resourceful” like turning a Dorito into a taco shell. McDonald’s are the beloved popular favorite. Arby’s takes itself seriously and is true to its quirks – like, who serves roast beef? And I’m not sure if Wendy’s…
