The End of Superhero Movies?

Originally posted on The Sunflower Cafe:
I’ve heard people jokingly (and not so jokingly) ask if the end of superhero movies is near. The thing is, superhero movies have become their own genre so to ask for an end would be like asking for the end of romantic comedies, horror movies, or spy thrillers. Also, superhero movies aren’t anything new. They’ve existed long before the Avengers hit screens, and they’ll be around long after. I have no complaints about a new movie or two being released each year, but I can understand the exhaustion people are having. We don’t need an end though. We need variety. One of the issues is that every recent superhero movie is linked together and all done through the same company. While the Marvel Cinematic Universe is impressive, it doesn’t allow much separation because there are movies for each of the main Avengers leading in to the Avenger trilogy. Viewers are stuck in the same universe over and over again even though they’re able to see different stories taking place…

Hey World, You’ve Been Gilmored: Tips for Binge-Watching Gilmore Girls on Netflix

*Starting today, July 1st, the rest of the world will be able to experience what us Americans have been able to enjoy for the past two years – the entirety of Gilmore Girls on Netflix Instant. Obviously this is a smart move for Netflix ahead of Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life premiering later this year, but now I feel like the show’s going to have an even larger global fan base than ever before. So if you happen to be watching the show for the first time this weekend, international readers, here’s a handy guide to making it through the entire series. I made this in 2014 when GG first hit Netflix in America, so I’ve made a few updates throughout. Copperboom!* It’s happening you guys. IT’S ALL HAPPENING. Sorry I yelled at you. Let’s make up. I’m just super excited for the recent news coming out of Netflix HQ: All seven seasons of Gilmore Girls are coming to Netflix Instant. That’s right – 153 episodes, about 6,732…

Gunther Better Work There!: Central Perk Cafe Coming to Toronto

Originally posted on The Nostalgia Blog:
Toronto will apparently become the latest city (joining NYC, Sydney, Beijing and Liverpool) to have their very own Central Perk Cafe. The cafe opens in June and will supposedly give out prizes to customers who come in dressed as FRIENDS characters…so I guess people with gel in their hair and wearing t-shirts tucked into khaki pants. The attention to detail will supposedly be uncanny so this should be a big draw for die-hard FRIENDS fans. I just finally hope it answers the question of how 6 more or less fully employed people can spend 60% of their lives in a cafe and still afford to live in New York…Also I hope the barista has bleach blonde hair.

Star Wars: Before the Awakening by Greg Rucka

RATING: 5/5 SYNOPSIS: The tales of Finn, Rey, and Poe in the days prior to the start of The Force Awakens. ? This book does a great job in helping to cement the things that you already thought about the characters after seeing the film and it also provides a nice backstory for Poe Dameron since we don’t see as much of him as we do Finn and Rey. In Finn’s story we get to see Stormtrooper training and really get into that whole hive mentality that keeps them all in check. I really enjoyed learning just a little bit more about the Stormtrooper teams and how they worked and I liked seeing them interact with each other outside of battle. I especially liked that we got to see some more of Captain Phasma and General Hux. I felt like I knew Phasma a little better after reading the section and I’m also more interested in Hux as a character. The relationship between Phasma and Finn was really interesting and I…

Official Sherlock Special Trailer!

Originally posted on Fandom Addict:
Hi everyone, I know I’ve posted a lot about this, but it’s just too exciting to ignore! We finally have a real trailer for the Sherlock special! As I’ve said in my many previous posts, the new Sherlock one-off episode will be set in Victorian times, in the original Sherlock Holmes time period. The episode is set to air Christmas 2015. This trailer gives us a glimpse of just how exciting it will be! The twitter link to the tweet containing the trailer from the official Sherlock page is below: https://twitter.com/Sherlock221B/status/651849482544394240 A couple important corollaries from the trailer to the series and books that I noticed: First, Sherlock and John call each other Holmes and Watson, different from the series but in line with the original canon. Second, there were a few lines that were also said in the series (“The curtain rises…” was also said in “The Great Game”). Until next time! Have any updates or corollaries that I didn’t mention? LUSH Intergalactic Bath Bomb | Rachel

Originally posted on The Flower That Blooms:
Being a big Marvel fan, as soon as Lush brought out this ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ inspired product as an Oxford Street exclusive, I knew I needed to try it! Lucky enough for me, I didn’t have to wait till we visited the big store to get my hands on it, as Lush recently released this beauty in all stores! We were shown it in action at the Blogger event we went to last month and I picked it up straight after as one of my free items. Something I love about Intergalactic is how different it is to all of the other bath bombs Lush has to offer. I particularly love how it looks like a little planet and the colours are all so bright and pretty. You can tell just by looking at it that’s it’s going to make an amazing bath! The Peppermint Oil and Grapefruit Oil gives this bath bomb a fresh minty scent which again makes this product really different! I’m loving minty…

Harry Potter Themed Bar in Toronto

Originally posted on Fandom Addict:
Hi everyone, This is probably the coolest fandom news I’ve posted about so far! A new Harry Potter – themed bar has opened in Toronto, and it looks so amazing! It is absolutely the place to be if you’re a Harry Potter fan. I’m considering taking a road trip up there from New York (where I live) just for this. The bar is called The Lockhart, after our favorite ladies’ man of the Harry Potter world. The make some serious “Potions and Elixirs”, and titled a lot of their drinks after subtle Harry Potter terms, like “Befuddlement Brew” and “The Shacklebolt”. There’s so much more, and you can read about it and see more pictures here. I’m so excited to go here someday! Until next time! Have any more Potter news? Comment below!

Wholock: Yay for Effort…. What?

Originally posted on A Sunny Place To Think:
I’m tired. I’m also bad at going to bed early when I’m tired like this and know for a fact that I have to wake up at a decent time the next morning. This being said, I still decided to jump on here and post to you guys. See, I’m not good at this bedtime thing. I was just sitting here at my desk thinking about how much I like it. I was also thinking about how I want to upload some more work to my DeviantArt account sometime this week. You see, I’ve been slacking on uploading my artwork and that’s bad. I should start giving myself deadlines. What else…? Oh, I’ve started a Doctor Who/Sherlock fanfiction, which I upload to my DA, as well. (If you’d like me to share the link to my DA accout, please let me know.) Oh, it’s “Wholock” to be precise…that specific pairing of shows. I don’t know. Apparently it’s a thing and I decided that I liked the idea, so…
