Entire seasons of TV shows being available on Netflix make it easier than ever to waste an entire Saturday. Checking e-mail and watching all of your friends’ Snapchat posts provide hours of entertainment. Boozy brunches and day parties can instantly ruin an entire weekend that was supposed to be dedicated to productivity. So how can you be a productive 20- to 30-something in today’s world? I am the queen of doing-too-much but I get THE most done throughout the week. At school I am president of the Black Graduate Student Association, planned a 50-person weekend ski trip this year, am involved in the Toastmasters public speaking group, travel to conferences for fun and for school, travel to visit family, and develop and teach coding camps to high school girls all while be productive on school work. There is not enough time in our lives to figure out what was and is being done to us; to figure out how much of it is self-victimizing and how much of it is true; or if the truth has forced us to become accustomed to being the victim. To then identify the great parts of who we are and discard the bad. To then take the bad and see how much of it is part of us. Well, well, well, here you are again, reader. Did you come back because I said in my last post that I would be starting the writing prompts from 300 Writing Prompts? No? Well… That’s awkward… We’re just going to keep moving on here. For those of you who are just here by coincidence, here’s the short of it all. I bought a book of 300 writing prompts and I am trying to convince myself that I can make a powerful piece of writing out of all of them. And then I had a delusion that my readers would hold me accountable for all 300 of them. We’ll see.
