Should Companies Have Counseling Services For Their Employees?

What do YOU think? Should you have someone to turn to when shit hits the fan? Or are you afraid of approaching anyone at your workplace for fear of misplacing your trust and jeopardising your career?   These questions have been on my mind for a long time, swirling and whirling in my mind ever since I re-joined the rat race in the corporate world. While it isn’t my first job, nor will it be my last, I still feel a little disconnected. I have been facing some work-based difficulties at the office. I find it hard to gel with my coworkers. I find it hard to deliver deadlines. I have fallen behind in my tasks. I have lost precious sleep thinking constantly about the impending training demonstration that I’m supposed to deliver. I have even refused to keep my manager updated on my work progress for fear of disappointing her. I keep to myself most of the time at the office, only opening myself up to one or two colleagues whom I can bring …

Rediscovering Old Beauty Favourites

Sometimes I get a bit stuck in a rut when it comes to makeup. With travelling between home, and my boyfriend’s house constantly I rely heavily on whatever happens to be in my makeup bag. I thought it was about time I switched things up, so I had a root through my makeup and I’ve fallen back in love with some golden oldies! The Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder was all the rage when I first started blogging. I’ve been having trouble with my t-zone getting oily recently so this powder has done the trick for me. It’s a very light weight powder, yet it still does a great job of controlling oil. I hate that cakey powder feeling that comes with mattifying products, but the Laura Mercier powder really solves that issue for me. I went through a real phase a couple of years ago of investing in lots of Makeup Geek shadows, but then they sadly sank to the bottom of my makeup pile. Considering each pan costs £5, they are…

The Groans of a Pregnant Working Mum

Originally posted on MiddleMe:
As I was working on the research of my article “Working and Pregnant at the Same Time”, I interviewed a number of pregnant working women all over the world. I found out that my first article did not bring out their workplace groans as I would love to do hence this article is a representation of their voices. Enjoy! “My boss is extremely supportive and in fact, she and I got pregnant at the same time! But when she cut short her maternity leave to come back to work, she had expressed explicitly that she hoped that I do the same. I didn’t but I felt so guilty when I went back to work.” Alice, 28, Fashion Buyer “I had the most evil boss ever. He made sure I do overtime even he knows I am in my third trimester and I am due in a month. He made me feel guilty for being pregnant. Fortunately for me, when I came back from my maternity leave, he was transferred to another…

We Discovered a Place Called Twatt! – 1st-7th August 1998

Saturday 1stSpent most of the day travelling then stopped here at the Royal Dunkeld Hotel. There was a Scottie dog here called Fergus at the same time as us. I thought I had a brain tuma [Oh, come on. I was a better speller than that.] coz I’d had a headache all day but Mum and Dad said it was sinusitis coz it was in my nose too. At tea there was this man with really bad B.O. and we had to move coz Abby was nearly sick! BYE! Sunday 2nd I got even more worried about my brain as I had another headache. We stayed overnight ay my cousins’ house in Wick but their family went away so we didn’t see them then. When we got there we realised that the tickets for the ferry to Orkney were gone so Mum had to sort it out. I needed a hug for some reason and started wishing I had a boyfriend. I dunno what brought it on but…

Lazy Vegetarian Meal Ideas #25 Chickpea and Kale Delight

Originally posted on News, reviews and cooking tips:
I love chickpeas. Like, seriously. I could write a sonnet about chickpeas. Chickpeas are cheap, tasty and protein filled beauties and I don’t know what I would do without them, and they are also fabulously cheap! This recipe is my take on the more traditional spinach and chickpea combo; kale has a slightly sweeter taste, but I prefer it personally. What you need: A can of chickpeas, about half a pack of kale, olive oil, an onion. Spices: Asafoetida, fenugreek, tumeric, chilli powder, cumin, coriander seeds, mustard seeds, salt, pepper, chilli flakes 1: Heat oil in a large saucepan and add some asafoetida and mustard seeds. Heat the oil over a medium heat for a few minutes (chop the onion in the mean time) until it becomes fragrant. Then turn up the heat, add the onions and spices and fry for five-seven minutes 2: Add the kale and sauté on a medium heat for a few minutes. Then add the chickpeas and some more spices and fry for about five…

Drugstore Brands I want to try more from!

Originally posted on LucieLeannexo:
Since starting my blog I have got much better at venturing into new brands, but I feel as though there are still many brands I want to explore more. I’ve seen a few of these posts recently so I thought I would give you my own spin on it, starting with the drugstore brands I want to try more from. Revlon -?Revlon is a brand I have always been aware of but for some reason I have barely tried any of their products, except from this gorgeous pink lipstick I received in a Glossybox. They have just released a whole range of new mascaras which I would love to try, and I would also like to try their Color Stay foundation. NYX -?When Valentina & I did our beauty swap, she kindly sent me some Nyx products. I have fallen in love with the butter gloss in Tiramisu, and I literally want to try every shade. Their HD concealer has also caught my attention and also their primers. H&M Beauty -?I…

Ralph gave me his last Rolo – 2nd June 1998

Originally posted on If Destroyed Still True:
Tuesday 2ndRalph still likes me anyway. You know off the advert when it says, “Do you love someone enough to give them your last Rolo?” Well, Ralph gave me his last Rolo after school. He came up to me and said, “There’s my last Rolo, just for you.” I thought that was really sweet and I couldn’t stop smiling for ages. People must have thought I was a right nutter, grinning away to myself like that! I saved the packet. Sad, I know. → BYE!

He was nothing compared to Ralph! – 14th April 1998

Originally posted on If Destroyed Still True:
Tuesday 14thWe went ice skating today. There were loads if girls and Freddie. There was me, Emma, Rach, Georgia, Lena, Olivia, Rach’s sister and her mate and then Freddie. It was quite good actually and there was this lad in a green coat (who looked a bit like Ewan Swann) who kept “accidentally” falling into me. They all thought he fancied me. Maybe he did but he didn’t stand much of a chance coz he was nothing compared to Ralph! It’s snowing really heavily and it’s gone quite deep now. I really want a snowball fight with my mates tomorrow but I don’t think that there’s much chance of that happening coz Mum’s making me go shopping for new school stuff tomorrow and Abby and I have got a dentist appointment too. What a fun day I’m gonna have – NOT! I’m really worried that I’m going to run out of time to do my homework as well. I’ve only got two pieces but they’re really long and…

Birchbox November | Unboxing Video

Originally posted on LucieLeannexo:
After the disappointment of my October Birchbox (see full post for more details) I was excited when I heard Birchbox were collaborating with the well loved brand Skinny dip (I particularly love their cute phone cases). I thought I would switch things up a bit this month and film an unboxing video, so be sure to head on over to my YouTube channel for all the details of the products I received. To summarise, I loved the appearance of this month’s box – the shells looked so adorable and pastel colours are always a big hit with me. Without revealing too much the products were a mixed bag – but much better than last month, I’m particularly excited to try the Lord and Berry lip liner. I still feel a bit unsure as to whether I will continue my subscription, but I am going to give it one more month. The prospect of a Christmas themed box for December is just keeping me hanging on in there! As I’ve already mentioned be…
