Prosciutto Wrapped Figs

Life According to Jamie Figs are one of my favorite fruits. Well, I love most fruits, but figs are up there. I think I even had them on my monthly favorites one month last summer. I also love prosciutto, the Italian cured ham. It’s a well-known fact that salty and sweet go together so well. A popular appetizer are prosciutto wrapped melons, but an appetizer or snack that you may not hear about as often is prosciutto wrapped figs. This isn’t really a recipe post, because there’s nothing to it. I washed and cut up some figs, wrapped some strips of prosciutto around the figs and that was it! The salty prosciutto pairs harmoniously with the sweetness from the figs. This is perfect to serve as an appetizer to any summer dinner parties or a little snack for yourself this summer as the figs are so sweet and refreshing. It’s so tasty and while the addition… View original post 20 more words

Escape: Port Fairy, Australia

We have been lucky enough to spend another beautiful weekend in the gorgeous town of Port Fairy in Australia. This picture was snapped at East Beach after a two hour walk along the coastline, the pretty spring flowers were in full bloom and the ocean was so calm and inviting. For more details on the town including where to eat and where to stay see our previous Port Fairy post. Happy Sunday x View original post

A wandering heart and mind…on the first day back to class ;)

I’m a person of simple pleasures.  I like daydreaming, plans and travel, to name a few. Whee, planning! Admittedly, doing these three things in my first two classes of Phase 3 is probably unwise. I feel like the fact I’m pretty sure I’ve used this gif before says something about my life… But yes, we had our first “real class” of phase 3 today. Phase 3 is the Chronic conditions, and pretty much everyone has already informed us that this phase is a lot more intense than phases 1 and 2 which is something that I don’t even want to touch right now, let me tell you that!  Today was a pretty light day, frankly; we had our intro to phase lecture, then a “real” lecture, and then half of us had clinical skills, myself being in that half.  I didn’t particularly mind having clinical skills today, though the scheduling for it is utterly bananas this phase.  Usually all of the groups had the same sessions…

Spa day in the city

I am definitely a city gal I jump at the opportunity to got into the city, that being any city. I love the fast moving pace and the whole atmosphere so for my boyfriends birthday I got him a VIP spa day as I feel like it is so nice to get away from every day life and just relax. I found the most amazing spa day in the centre of London and it was so lovely to just spend the day together and leave all the stress of real life behind. The spa day was in a hotel called The Atheneum which overlooks St James Park. The hotel was stunning from the outside as the whole side corner of the building was covered in flowers and greenery which was amazing and  really made the hotel blend in with the park. We got the train to London Victoria so it was a short but sweet walk past Buckingham Palace and through the park to the hotel. Once inside we…

The tomb of the unknown soldier

Where to even start with this incredible place? Like really, I don’t think I have ever seen a building as huge with as much detail and thought taken into every millimetre of the perimeter! This building just cannot be misses, while walking around Rome, every point with a view, this was to be seen. I honestly think my house would fit into this building 50 times over! Standing next to it, in all its greatness, was just something in itself. When I was in New York the building were big and tall and wide but this is a different type of building, this was there to be seen, this stood a purpose of holding the body of a soldier that once fought for Italy, although from what I read, no one knows who this unknown soldier actually is. He must have been pretty special to have this as his tomb! From every edge of the building it was clear that it was in a prime location with beautiful views…

Is it really THAT important to wear sunscreen?

Originally posted on Pretty Little Lewis:
Short answer: yes! And you should be wearing SPF 30-50 everyday. Here’s why: You may not think twenty minutes in the sun could possibly do?that much damage. But you are wrong. Even a few seconds of sun exposure without SPF protection will mutate your cells and could lead to a form of skin cancer later on. Gross. It can take up to 30 years (what!!) for sun damage to appear on your skin. Which means those years you spent at the beach with little or no sunblock (and you thought, hmm I don’t really get freckles or dark spots so I must be all good!) will catch up with you. You are not invincible! Start slapping it on now to avoid future #skinproblems. The sun causes dark spots on your skin. So if you’re trying every kind of spot cream and skin product to try hide them, the easiest solution is just to exfoliate, and load up on sunscreen. You should be wearing sunscreen EVERYWHERE. Not just your face,…
