I feel as though this is a popular topic to discuss. The topic of confidence. I don’t speak to men, when it comes to matters of confidence – Ladies, I’m telling you – They have enough. Men, men, are so flipping confident these days. I tell you, I’ve never met a single male, anywhere, that hasn’t told me what to do. They tell me what I should be doing with my time. How Working to Prove Your Worth Keeps You from Succeeding

This is a post inspired by Brene Brown’s appearance on an Oprah Soul Sunday. In the video below, Brene talks about “the Hustler” AKA her ego. She speaks about how “the Hustler” tells you ‘you don’t have any inherent worth, you have to hustle for it’. It encourages you to do as much as possible to build up a track record as proof that you deserve some recognition. Running yourself ragged to prove something so basic as the fact that you do, in fact, add something of value to the world can end up holding you back from what you’re actually supposed to be focusing on. When you’re passionate about something, or eager to start working on something new, your worth comes out through that. In today’s job market, we all are striving to climb over each other and prove our uniqueness. Recently I came across a brilliant campaign called “The World Needs More Love Letters“. At first I was a little skeptical about the idea, I wondered what it was about, obviously love letters, but not the typical sort of love letter… These ‘love letters’, aren’t love letters at all. In fact these are letters that started in 2010 on a train with a girl who decided to experiment with her own loneliness. Thus creating love letters, to help her through it. * “The things she found to be true: A) No matter how tough we act, we all still need a love letter from time to time. B) Even in a world crammed tight into 140 characters and constant status updates, there is a still a great craving for the handwritten note.
