NYC Spotlight: Gotham Bar and Grill

Originally posted on Chey Chey from the Bay:
One of the highlights of my eating excursions this summer was having the opportunity to dine at the famed Greenwich Village restaurant- Gotham Bar & Grille- with my bf and his amazing mom! Gotham is a beautiful restaurant- stylish, but it still felt warm and inviting. I really loved the feel of the high ceilings, pretty fabric-draped light fixtures and grand floral arrangements that decorated the restaurant. The food was fantastic and so skillfully presented. How could I not take pics of everything before I devoured it? The first courses were phenomenal! We had the intricately prepared Yellowfin Tuna Tartare, with Japanese cucumber, shiso leaf and sweet miso asian ginger vinaigrette and the delicious, perfect-for-summer dish, the Soft Shell Crab that featured summer squash, sweet corn, fresh chickpeas, purple eggplant, roasted red pepper, and a lime ginger emulsion. The tartare was so fresh and paired nicely with the acidity of the vinaigrette. I’ve always been a huge fan of soft shell crab and this was hands down my favorite soft shell crab…

Roma! La Città Eterna!

HilaryStyle Rome is a city packed so full of amazing history and sights that even with 9 full days to visit we came nowhere near seeing everything on my list. We would just have to pick our “must-see” places and everything else would be a bonus. The Colosseum We loved this! Although you can arrange private tours and you probably should for a high season visit we took a chance and bought our tickets and booked our tour upon arrival. The tour guides do an amazing job. I can’t explain it, but there is something so moving about being in this place you’ve heard so much about and where so much history took place. It was a very sophisticated structure for its time and it is incredibly well-preserved. You can really imagine what it once was! The Forum The Forum was a disappointment to me. Maybe it had something to do with being there alone with… View original post 1,250 more words

The Ultimate Foodporn: Eggslut in DTLA

When I first discovered Eggslut on Instagram, I was surprised that Heaven on Earth had such a raunchy name. Nestled in Downtown LA just near the Fashion District, this popular sandwich stand is the perfect place to find some good, dirty #yolkporn. Sure, the menu is small and yes, you will probably have to wait in a line that wraps around the entire kitchen. But Eggslut is the kind of place that you have to try at least once. And that’s coming from someone who has probably ventured to DTLA maybe half a dozen times in her entire life. This teeny open restaurant is located in the Grand Central Market, along with everything from fresh produce to an organic coffee stand to authentic Mexican mole sauce. I definitely recommend bringing a few people not only so you can order more things, but so while someone waits in line you can stroll through the market and scope out the other delicious foods available. Plus the guy who works at the coffee…

Harry Potter Themed Bar in Toronto

Originally posted on Fandom Addict:
Hi everyone, This is probably the coolest fandom news I’ve posted about so far! A new Harry Potter – themed bar has opened in Toronto, and it looks so amazing! It is absolutely the place to be if you’re a Harry Potter fan. I’m considering taking a road trip up there from New York (where I live) just for this. The bar is called The Lockhart, after our favorite ladies’ man of the Harry Potter world. The make some serious “Potions and Elixirs”, and titled a lot of their drinks after subtle Harry Potter terms, like “Befuddlement Brew” and “The Shacklebolt”. There’s so much more, and you can read about it and see more pictures here. I’m so excited to go here someday! Until next time! Have any more Potter news? Comment below!

NYC Spotlight: The Stanton Social

I absolutely love brunch! Bye breakfast. I’ve decided it’s the most important meal of life. I recently had an epic brunch at what is now my favorite spot, The Stanton Social. It’s the kind of place I imagine the likes of Chuck Bass and Serena Van Der Woodsen would frequent causally. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. I felt cooler just stepping inside because that’s how trendy, yet chill, but definitely unique and swanky in a very New-York-hipster type of way the interior design is. The restaurant is three floors and “features a thirty-foot glowing wine wall displaying over 2,000 bottles of wine in a herringbone patter, fringe-covered walls, fine lizard skin banquettes, leather handrails, and belt strapped pillows, all of which subtly tip their hat to the luxury and glamour found in the textiles and fashions of the 1940’s.” So yeah, it’s real nice in there! The food is absurdly good and shareable, which is amazing. I feel like I ate the whole menu that morning because it was a non-stop parade of delicious…

Eggs-cellent meal at Olivier Bistro

Originally posted on eatingwellnyc:
Brunch is my favorite meal during the weekends. The only downside is a lot of places have long waits. The wait to get a table at Olivier Bistro wasn’t that bad on a Saturday around 11/11:30am. It was after being seated that the wait got almost unbearable, more on that later… The food at Olivier’s was pretty good. I am more of a savory gal when it comes to my entrée and then I like to split something sweet on the side with my friends, usually either pancakes or waffles. We all got some eggs in our dishes. I looove eggs in all forms: scrambled, sunny side up, over easy, poached, hardboiled, baked, as omelet, quiche, etc. Seriously all forms. When I was younger though, raw egg yolk squicked me out. But now I love popping that yolk and dipping my toast in it. I ordered the Feuillete De Tomate ($14), which was a puff pastry with tomato marmalade, olives, anchovies, and goat cheese topped off with a poached egg. I really…

My favorite healthy meals when I’m out and about!

So let’s face it, we all like to go out and treat ourselves with a huge piece of cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory every now and then as a cheat meal, but what if it’s not your cheat day & you have to go out for a birthday, celebration, work party, etc? Below I’m going to list my favorite HEALTHY meals and options when I’m out to eat at some of my favorite restaurants! Cheesecake Factory: So God bless Cheesecake Factory for making the Skinnylicious menu because it takes the guess work right out of trying to find something healthy to eat – although the salt content is pretty high in some of these items (ya gotta make it taste good, right?) you can always ask to have you item cooked with minimal salt! So here’s a few of my favs! + Greek Salad as a starter + Skinnylicious Caesar salad (TO DIE FOR!) + Chicken lettuce wrap tacos (Mexican style w/ no crema) + Skinnylicious grilled salmon w/ asparagus + Skinny…
