Sky Gardens London

So heres to another London post. I went up to London to celebrate one of my friends 21st birthday! This included the visit to Pizza Union, Sky Gardens and then drinks and dinner in Southgate at Giraffe. The weather in London on the day wasn’t great and was pretty much your typical British weather, dreary and wet. But we still made the most of it! The sky garden is located in the nicknamed building – Walky talky, because it really does look like one! Looking around the 34 storey building was amazing! It had such a ambient atmosphere! There were drinks and cakes you could purchase I shared a hot chocolate and slice of cheesecake with my sister, but I could have had one to myself it was so yummy! However the prices were a little much, but what can you expect its London?!? Once we got to the top the views were amazing! If only the weather had been better and we could have gone outside onto the balcony…

Fairytale Lands of Snowdonia

For my boyfriend’s birthday I bought us both train tickets to Snowdonia to camp for 3 nights. After the lessons learnt in our failed wild camping experience in Northumberland, we booked a spot in a campsite in the centre of the National Park, close to Mount Snowdon. We left our homes in Leeds bright and early for our 6:30am train on the 6th June ready for a day full of travelling to our campsite and with backpacks fit to burst full of camping gear, clothes and food. Despite only going for 3 nights we knew that on our low budget, we’d have to try and feed ourselves the duration of the trip and packed tins of chickpeas, couscous and beans, making the bags super heavy. Two trains got us to Llandudno Junction where having a 45 minute stopover we initially planned to take a look at Conwy Castle. However, after some speculation we decided it was worth the risk missing our connecting train so stayed on the platform for some lumpy…

What it’s like to fly business class when you have no business to be flying business class

The best flying experience of my lyyyfe Last week I was lucky as fuck enough to fly to Australia BUSINESS CLASS. The downside of this is that I’m ruined for life now. I live in London and my father has lived in Australia for some 20 years, so I’ve spent a lot of time on very, very long-haul flights. It’s far from pleasant, of course, being strapped into an upright chair squidged next to strangers and screaming infants for 24 hours but obviously these are first world problems. I’ve developed a formula, and coping mechanisms, and mainly it all revolves around drinking heavily and knocking myself out with sleeping tablets until it’s all over – somehow managing to keep it together during the layover – before emerging, Gollum-like, on the other end. It’s all fucked now that I have experienced what it’s like to fly from London to Australia up at the front of the plane. I flew Cathay Pacific, which I’m told is the best in the world…

European Travels part 5: London

Hi, friends! Life has been crazy and I keep putting off the last 3 cities on my Europe recap. As little time as I have, I just want to get them on here, or else I know I’ll never finish and it will drag out waaaay longer than it needs to. London, England. England was the third country we traveled to and was the place we were in the longest. We were in London 6-7 days. For those of you who have been and know how expensive it is, you probably thought it was a little crazy of us. We decided to stay in London the longest because of the fact that we had free places to stay here. Being hosted by friend is by far the best (and most budget-friendly) way to travel! Our first connection was with a family in Croyden. Croyden is a suburb about 30 minutes south of London. Now, before we got to London, 30 minutes didn’t seem like too far from the city. Once we got there, we quickly…

Spa day in the city

I am definitely a city gal I jump at the opportunity to got into the city, that being any city. I love the fast moving pace and the whole atmosphere so for my boyfriends birthday I got him a VIP spa day as I feel like it is so nice to get away from every day life and just relax. I found the most amazing spa day in the centre of London and it was so lovely to just spend the day together and leave all the stress of real life behind. The spa day was in a hotel called The Atheneum which overlooks St James Park. The hotel was stunning from the outside as the whole side corner of the building was covered in flowers and greenery which was amazing and  really made the hotel blend in with the park. We got the train to London Victoria so it was a short but sweet walk past Buckingham Palace and through the park to the hotel. Once inside we…

Harry Potter World

Yesterday I was lucky enough to get to visit the Harry Potter sets and being such a big Harry Potter fan anyway this just highlighted my upset that the books and films are actually over. A large amount of Harry Potter was filmed in a studios in north London and they have set up an exhibition of props and scenes from the films so you can experience the magic yourself! Having driven quite a while to get to the location in Watford, we were greeted by the huge chess pieces from the first film. The scale of these are insane and they really would dwarf a grown man. We then proceed into the main entrance where we are greeted by the great hall doors, again these are huge and to everyones excitement upon entering through the doors we are stood in the real great hall! This is lined with tables mounted with food from the films. There is fire places on each wall all engraved with the Hogwarts cress…
