My Love/Hate Relationship with Fitness

Originally posted on Live free:
It’s that time of the year where I find myself and my friends constantly talking about getting our “summer bods” and how we’re going to go to the gym and workout for five days straight or give up pizza and our other favorite foods – obviously all unrealistic goals. I have always been a little self conscious about my weight. I’ve never been considered overweight but I have always been a little thicker compared to my friends. I think that’s what my problem is, I’m always comparing my body to my friends’ bodies. My freshman year of college I  went away to school and gained the dreaded “freshman 15”. I didn’t notice or care too much because I had my boyfriend telling me I was still beautiful. When we broke up at the beginning of my sophomore year I didn’t have much of an appetite for a couple months. I lost about ten pounds but gained it back plus some when I got out of my sad, depressed breakup funk. At the end of my sophomore…

I Hate Running…So What Now?

Originally posted on She Hates Running:
Living an inactive lifestyle is all to common these days. With desk jobs and telecommuting, it can be hard to get in a regular dose of activity. This is especially hard to concur when you hate running, the gym, and most physical activity purely for fitness. I have never been a fitness buff or one to constantly check in at the gym, but I am doing myself a favor and getting my butt moving on a regular basis! I know Zumba isn’t new, but classes have never worked well with my schedule or budget. In my search for a workout I actually enjoy, I came across Dance Fitness with Jessica, more specifically her beginner section on YouTube! You should definitely check her out if you are a a fan of any kind of dance workouts she has a range from beginner to expert on her channel. I am a million miles from being a good dancer but I found her dances easy enough to follow and there is a…

No One Is Rooting For You

Is humanity inherently good or bad? Where does morality come from? Are certain values innate or learned? Are some individuals naturally friendly and kind-hearted while others are born to be shitheads? I think about these things from time to time. I’ve developed the general belief that no one is rooting for you. If you have at least one person in this world that truly and genuinely supports you and wants your dreams to come true with no strings attached then you should consider yourself fortunate. But for the other 99% of the people you encounter in life, let me break the news to you, they are not rooting for you to succeed. Hell, I’m not rooting for you. Do you think I want your blog to blow up? Do you really think I want you to have more readers than we do? Recently, I decided to dive into the world of photography. Why? Obviously because there’s not enough Asian photographers out there. It only took a day or two before I…

Things Shy People Hate.

things shy people hate. Being introduced as shy.? Stop. Just don’t do it. Do you think that person is unable to recognise someone’s personality traits alone? By doing this, you forbid them from being anything but shy, making it like they are contradicting or betraying you if they even try to be openly excited, or loud, or even happy. Not inviting them to places because you think they won’t enjoy it.? There is a 67% possibility that they will say no but then there is also a 33% chance they will say yes and if you don’t even try to ask them then it will just make them think that you don’t want to hang out with them and make them retreat into their turtle shells. Being asked, “Why are you so shy?” I don’t why I am shy, if I did I wouldn’t be. While I figure out my life, please don’t keep pestering me with why’s because it just reminds me of my flaws and let’s me know it’s…

5 Signs That You Are an Anti-Hipster

FOR THE RECORD: The anti in anti-hipster is pronounced like an-tee. If you pronounce it an-tie most people will think you hate hipsters. Unless you do hate them, in which case, do whatever you want. As for the antee-hipsters. Here are the signs: 1. YOU POSSESS A “NERDY” CHARACTERISTIC. Just because.   In my case, this would be my preference to stay in and read a good book while drinking tea. Thus the reason I have a books & tea pinterest board. 2. YOU’RE USED TO PEOPLE CALLING YOU WEIRD, and you don’t give a damn. Since high school, and I couldn’t care less. 3. YOU STOPPED TRYING TO BE COOL YEARS AGO. Either you were “over it” or didn’t care to keep up. I couldn’t keep up, so I decided to do #4. 4. YOU DO WHATEVER THE HELL YOU WANT, because you can. It’s like I always say, “Be yourself. Unless you suck. Then change, but still be yourself.” 5. YOU ARE NEVER AHEAD OF THE TIMES, but sometimes they catch up with you. This …
