Workout Aversion

Originally posted on Snacks n The City:
It’s so easy to become distracted from your focus. I try my best to practise yoga daily – but when your focus shifts to something else you deem a priority or if your mind is heavily on other things, it’s easy to put your health and habits second. I am guilty of this as we speak. And while I’m still able to set aside a little time each day to meditate, I’ve found my yoga practise has taken a back seat over the last couple of weeks. It’s ok, it’s nothing serious, deep or dark. I’ve just accidently slipped into a bit of a workout aversion funk – which I’m about to jump straight back out of! I know how these things go if you don’t nip it in the bud before the laziness really had a chance to bloom! When I’m so used to doing exercise every day, it would be easy to beat myself up about it, and find myself in a downward spiral of bad…

Healthy, Wealthy and Wise.

Image designed by Creator & Curator via http://www.canva.com. “Five more minutes, I promise… Zzz…” That’s what we always tell ourselves when our alarm rings at 9:00am in the morning, regardless of the day. That’s what we always say to the person who has been tasked to wake us up in the morning. And then you find yourself waking up at noon. OH NO! Half the day has gone! And I only have [insert hours] of time left before the black tie event tonight, and I need to do [insert chores]… Sounds familiar? Everyone is guilty of this, as do I. You slog all week, clocking in productive hours, preparing hunch-backed tasks for your boss, powering through presentations for clients, and brainstorming with your colleagues. Some of us work long hours. By the time we get home, it is too late to do anything else. All you have time for is a quick shower, an even quicker meal and then it’s off to bed for the next day’s work.…

How to Know You’re Getting Old in 8 Ways

Originally posted on How To Get Things Done in 10 Ways:
Obviously, I know, that at age 25 I am not old. I have a lot of life left and to fret about being old this early in the game is stupid. But sometimes I just look at things and think, “Oh God, am I getting old? I would never do that.” I can just feel the aging in moments like that.?Oh maybe that’s what they call maturing?! Maybe I am finally maturing! Wow, now I feel so fancy after that realization. Okay, so for the purpose of this post we’re going to stick with the idea that I’m getting old… 1. Talking in the movie theater The boyfriend and I went to see a movie a little bit ago, and the theater was pretty empty except for this group of teens and a few couples sprinkled throughout. Those kids had something to say at EVERY damn scene! I mean, when I was a kid, yeah, I liked to talk to my friends during the movie,…

Common Misconceptions When it Comes To Fat Loss

Originally posted on a health & fitness blog:
Hi everyone! I wanted to address some misconceptions I hear often about fat loss. First, muscle is NOT built from fat.  Your body does NOT turn fat into muscle.  I hear this all the time– (Woman looking at her belly) “I really need to go do crunches because I want to have abs like you..” NO! You can honestly do crunches until your blue in the face, are you building muscle? Yes! BUT that muscle is still going to be buried under the adipose tissue.  In order to burn adipose tissue, or better known as the dreaded F-word, FAT, you must be in a caloric deficit! In order to do so, you must be stern with a diet and, usually, incorporate cardio into your routine.   the title to this Pin was “8 moves to lean, toned arms. im definitly trying these tomorrow need to loose the flab” It makes me giggle when I am on Pinterest and a pin (like the one shown) shows a before…

Yellow Polishes You Must Have!

Originally posted on Polished by Amy:
Hi loves! Today I’m back with another polish must haves! Before Summer leaves us completely, I want to talk about the BEST yellow nail polishes that I would recommend to you guys. If you’re new to this series,?these are my picks out of all the brands I’ve tried that have the best formula, pigmentation, and staying power. So let’s get into the goodies! Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow ?? This is possibly the truest yellow shade you could find. The formula is super creamy and can be completely opaque in one coat. It’s also really affordable and can be found at most drugstores! Orly Glowstick ?? This shade is such a stunner!! It is a neon yellow/lime polish that looks amazing over a white base coat. I love wearing this shade in the spring and summer because it’s so unique! China Glaze Sun Upon My Skin ?? This shade is a beautiful light yellow that is opaque in two to three coats. This is one of my top picks because…

The Mind and Body Dualism of Health and Happiness

Originally posted on F R E E D O M:
Without one, you can’t have another. Though I often wonder, which one is more important, the body, or the mind? Before this get too chicken and egg, let me explain by saying that I believe in science. I also believe that there are things science has yet to uncover. Things like, how positive thoughts and self love potentially influences the body (don’t quote me on this, but perhaps, your thoughts also influences the chemicals in your brain and visa versa). Or perhaps, it’s the will and decision to put yourself first that sets the stage for a healthy mind and body, or body and mind. I find myself intrigued on this topic, as I’m always searching for ways to improve in every aspect of life. And of course, one of them involves happiness. What is it? What is happiness? Is it the rush we get when we accomplish something great? Or is it the steady flow of contentment? I think it’s both with the latter…
